TOP STORY: Liverpool and Chelsea battle for Werner
Liverpool and Chelsea are both believed to be interested in signing RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner, the Mirror reports.
The £60 million-related goal scorer is said to already be involved in negotiations with Chelsea over a potential deal. Leipzig will try to keep hold of him until the summer transfer window, but once Liverpool caught wind of Chelsea’s interest, their own pursuit of the player began.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is said to be a big admirer of Werner, but whether that will translate into a legitimate offer remains to be seen.
Messi wants Barcelona to sign Aguero
According to the Mirror, Barcelona star Lionel Messi has urged new boss Quique Setien to go after the signing of Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero.
The man some consider to be the greatest of all time was summoned to a meeting with Setien, where Messi let him know the sort of direction he wants to see the club go in. One of the most notable highlights of the chat saw the Argentina international suggest that Aguero would be the best possible replacement for the injured Luis Suarez.
At this moment in time, though, there has been no official approach from Barcelona to Manchester City.
PSG to make massive Guardiola offer?
Manchester City are preparing themselves for a big offer from French giants Paris Saint-Germain for manager Pep Guardiola, the Daily Express reports.
The friction between the club and manager Thomas Tuchel is said to be at breaking point, and if they do decide to get rid of him, their first port of call will be to go after Guardiola. PSG’s owners, Qatar Sports Investments, will put in a substantial bid to try to get a deal done for the man who is considered to be one of the best managers in the world.
City are coming off the back of a 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace as their Premier League title race continues to falter.

– Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that they want to bring in some new attacking options during the January transfer window, the Mirror reports. The Blues continue to occupy fourth spot as a direct result of the clubs around them slipping up, but in the wake of their 1-0 loss to Newcastle United on Saturday, the boss made it clear that they want to go in search of some goal scorers.
