Vitolo is under contract at Sevilla until 2020.

Sevilla winger Vitolo has said he is a transfer target for several clubs but denied receiving an approach from Manchester City.

Reports in Spain said Vitolo was interesting City, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona after an impressive season.

The Spain international, who scored six goals and set up six more in 30 league appearances, told La Provincia: “Manchester City is a great team that has grown in recent years but, for the time being, there is nothing with this team.

“I don’t know what will happen as not only Atletico is interested, there are other teams. We will see what happens.

“I have not made a decision yet. Moreover, I have a contract with Sevilla, a club I have great respect for.”

Vitolo, who joined Sevilla from Las Palmas in 2013, has been linked with Atletico since last summer.

However, a FIFA transfer ban on Atleti was upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport this week, ruling out that potential move.

Barcelona have also monitored Vitolo, who is under contract at Sevilla until June 2020 and has a €35 million release clause.

He said: “Of course I’m flattered that a team like Barcelona is monitoring me, but those teams follow many players.

“The truth is that the day I leave Sevilla I will be very sad. I will be eternally grateful to the club for all the love they have given me and my family.

Vitolo, meanwhile, praised the work of Jorge Sampaoli during his season at the helm.

Sampaoli was released from his contract by Sevilla to take over as Argentina coach, having guided the club to fourth place in La Liga.

“He is a charismatic coach and for me, a great technical tactician,” Vitolo said. “He succeeded in making Sevilla play great football for most of the season.

“To say no to the national team is very difficult, and that is why I understand his decision.”

Eduardo Berizzo, who left Celta Vigo earlier this month after two seasons in charge, is tipped to replace Sampaoli and Vitolo said: “It’s not official but from what I’ve seen, he is a disciplined coach that likes to manage the ball very well.”
