Juventus are closing in on the signing of Blaise Matuidi from Paris Saint-Germain, with the midfielder arriving in Turin for a medical on Wednesday.

The Serie A champions confirmed in a tweet that Matuidi landed in the Piedmont city at 16:00 and posed for photos with a Juventus scarf. He is set to visit the J Medical facilities to undergo tests before a transfer can be completed.

At the weekend, Juve’s general manager Beppe Marotta told RAI television that the Bianconeri were going to make a “big-name signing in midfield.”

Matuidi, who has long been a Juve target, is a player that coach Massimiliano Allegri had his sights on last summer.

The 30-year-old has been an almost ever-present for PSG in each of the past six seasons since joining them from St Etienne, and has won the Ligue 1 title four times during that spell.

But he was only a substitute in their opening two games of the current season as Juve strengthened their interest, leading to what is set to be an agreement over a €20 million deal.

He will join Claudio Marchisio, Miralem Pjanic and Sami Khedira as Allegri’s senior central midfield options for the upcoming Serie A season, which starts on Saturday when Juve face Cagliari.
