TOP STORY: Neymar accepts PSG’s offer to leave Barcelona?

A report in Brazil on Tuesday added to uncertainty over Neymar‘s future at Barcelona, after Esporte Interativo claimed he has accepted an offer from Paris Saint-Germain and will move for a world-record transfer fee of €222 million.

This comes after reports in Spain said on Monday that PSG were ready to pay the huge buyout clause to land Neymar, following a report in Sport that he feels his development at Barcelona is being stifled by Lionel Messi.

The Brazil international would be in line to earn €30m a year in Paris and would link up with international teammates, including Dani Alves, Thiago Silva and Lucas Moura. Manchester United and Manchester City also are credited with interest, although it is claimed the size of the transfer fee could present a problem, even for them.

Sport wrotes that Neymar, who is under contract at Barca until 2021, feels unsettled having won every major club honour with the Blaugrana and would now like to move on in order to become the main star and challenge for the Ballon d’Or, something he feels is not possible playing alongside Messi.

However, earlier on Tuesday, Barcelona vice president Jordi Mestre has said before the report in Brazil that he was “200 percent” convinced that Neymar would not move on, echoing what a Barcelona spokesman said a day earlier.

Meanwhile, French newspaper L’Equipe cited a PSG source as saying that the French club were not interested in dealing with Neymar again after talks a year ago ended on a sour note.

20.24 BST: Here’s a minor update to the reports of Neymar swapping Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain…

In this report, it’s claimed that PSG will give the Brazil international somewhere in the region of €30m per year after tax, bringing their financial commitment to nearly half a billion euros over a five-year deal.

Nice work if you can get it!

20.11 BST: Also buried in that Boldor tidbit? A little info on free agent playmaker Wesley Sneijder, who has been closely linked with a move to America.

One place he won’t be going is Montreal, according to Impact technical director Adam Braz: “We were never in the conversation on [Sneijder].” Los Angeles, whether for the Galaxy or new club LAFC (who debut in 2018), still seems like the top candidate for the former Inter Milan and Netherlands international.

19.55 BST: Some news from Major League Soccer next! The news today is that Montreal Impact are closing in on a deal for Deian Boldor.

Boldor, 22, is a defender by trade and the Romania international could certainly fill a need in Canada; it also doesn’t hurt that Impact owner Joey Saputo also owns Bologna, who had the young centre-back on loan last season from Hellas Verona.

19.28 BST: It seemed all but sorted until it all fell apart. That’s what might be happening with Juventus’ long-reported move for Sampdoria and Czech Republic forward Patrik Schick.

Schick, 21, was all set to complete a €25m move but according to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Serie A champions have backed away from the deal after meeting with the striker’s current club.

It turns out that the rumours are true as Sampdoria confirmed on their website that the deal is no more.

19.03 BST: Let’s keep the news involving West Ham United going, shall we?

The BBC reports that the London club have had their third bid for Marko Arnautovic accepted, meaning that they are free to begin negotiations with the Stoke and Austria midfielder.

18.44 BST: Is Keita Balde Diao soon to be on the move?

Italian media report that the Lazio and Senegal forward is heading to the Premier League as the Serie A club have accepted a €32m bid.

Balde, 22, has been superb in Italy but can he make the transition to England?

It would represent a “swoop” of sorts as 48 hours ago, he was tipped to be heading to Inter Milan.

18.14 BST: Finally, we can add a DONE DEAL for Lucas Leiva, whose move from Liverpool to Lazio has been confirmed.

“I’ve always loved the club. I think you’ll struggle to find anyone, apart from the direct opposing fans around London, who doesn’t love the club. It’s got something about it, it’s got a lot history and I’ve always loved playing against West Ham.”

They’ve smashed the club transfer record with the capture of Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon; they’ve brought in one of the Bundesliga players of the year in the shape of Bosnian Sead Kolasinac; appointed a new fitness guru to help improve issues there further; brought back Jens Lehmann as a first team coach; and put in place a medium/long-term plan for youth development by earmarking Per Mertesacker as the new Head of the Academy — a role he’ll take up in 12 months time.

Lemar could free Alexis to leave Arsenal

The Mirror claims Arsene Wenger is hopeful of striking a deal to sign Thomas Lemar, but it could involve Arsenal breaking their transfer record for the second time this summer, after Monaco put an £80m price tag on the winger.

Lemar, who is said to be keen to join Arsenal, is their No. 1 transfer target, and his arrival could free Alexis Sanchez to leave the club.

The report goes on to state that Wenger might have to sell several players to partially fund the move, but that might not be a problem, according to the Telegraph, who reckons Crystal Palace have made a £16m offer for Calum Chambers. The defender could be joined by Wojciech Szczesny, Kieran Gibbs and Lucas Perez in leaving Arsenal in the coming days.

Chelsea enquire about Aguero, Alexis to replace Costa

Sergio Aguero could be the man to replace Diego Costa at Chelsea, the Mirror claims, and he is available for the princely sum of £60m.

Neymar
Chelsea have added Sergio Aguero to the list of strikers they’re looking at to replace Diego Costa.

The Premier League champions have been linked with Alvaro Morata, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Andrea Belotti, but they now are poised to test Pep Guardiola’s claim that he wants Aguero to stay at the club.

Aguero’s sale could provide Guardiola with the funds to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal but, according to the Telegraph at least, the Chile international remains an option for Chelsea too. It is reported they last made enquiries about him at the end of last season but retain an active interest.

Tap-ins

Andy Robertson has left Hull’s preseason training camp in Portugal to sign for Liverpool, according to the Mirror. The 23-year-old left-back’s £8m arrival will solve a problem position for Jurgen Klopp, who played midfielder James Milner in the role throughout last season.

– Chelsea will be completing plenty of deals this week, the London Evening Standard writes, but they will mainly be departures. Kurt Zouma is expected to complete a season-long loan to Stoke; out-of-favour striker Loic Remy is available for transfer with Everton, Southampton and Marseille interested; and defender Kenneth Omeruo‘s unremarkable five-year spell at Stamford Bridge will be ended when he completes a permanent move to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

– Birmingham manager Harry Redknapp has continued to talk up moves for big-name players by registering interest in Everton winger Aaron Lennon, according to the Daily Mail. Redknapp said on Sunday that he would like to sign Ashley Cole, Robbie Keane and Stewart Downing for the Championship club.
