Divock Origi sealed a loan move to Wolfsburg from Liverpool this summer.

Wolfsburg coach Andries Jonker said he has been impressed with “physical” Liverpool loanee Divock Origi after he injured an under-23 player in his first outing for the Bundesliga side.

Belgium international Origi, 22, joined Wolfsburg on a season-long loan from Liverpool on deadline day and, ahead of his expected debut in the derby with Hannover on Saturday, he was given a run-out against Wolfsburg’s U23 side in an inter-squad friendly.

“One of the amateurs ran at him, and that lad was injured,” Wolfsburg coach Andries Jonker said with a chuckle. “He’s definitely one who can use his body, and who is physical.”

Wolfsburg secured Origi’s signature despite saying they faced competition from “more than 20 clubs.”
