ESPN FC’s Dan Thomas and Mark Ogden discuss Man City’s transfer market plans, which include Alexis Sanchez and Kyle Walker.

Newcastle United do not plan to make a move for Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs, sources close to the newly-promoted club have told ESPN FC.

Manager Rafa Benitez had been linked with a move for Gibbs as he looks to bring in cover for regular left-back Paul Dummett next season.

But sources said Newcastle are unlikely to pursue a deal for the England international, with Arsenal looking for around £15 million, and now have other targets.

Gibbs’ future at the Emirates Stadium is uncertain as he enters the final year of his contract.

The 27-year-old has found himself behind Nacho Monreal in Arsene Wenger’s plans, with the manager’s switch to a 3-4-3 formation limiting his opportunities.

Gibbs could also be pushed further out of the picture by the expected arrival of Sead Kolasinac from Schalke this summer.
