Barcelona midfielder Aleix Vidal could be a target for Roma in this transfer window, with sporting director Monchi confirming he is an admirer of the player.
Vidal’s agent on Wednesday stated that his client would consider a move to Roma, adding that he has maintained contact with Monchi, who signed the player for Sevilla in 2014 and is ready to enter into serious negotiations.
Roma could make a move to provide further competition to Alessandro Florenzi and Bruno Peres.
“I need to work a lot to win the fans over and what I’ve done already doesn’t count for anything as I’m working on making this Roma side even better,” Monchi told Mediaset. “[Vidal] is a lad who I had at Sevilla and he’s a great player, but he is owned by Barcelona.

“We are working on [bringing players in], but nobody has left us yet. There is a week left before the end of the transfer window and were working on finding something which could improve the squad.”
Monchi, meanwhile, says he has no regrets about the club-record transfer of Patrik Schick despite the Czech Republic forward failing to make an impact, or about bringing in Rick Karsdorp or Gregoire Defrel. The trio have started just eight Serie A games between them this season.
“Karsdorp has been injured and unfortunately he’s hardly had a chance to play, while Schick had a complicated summer and then he got injured, but now he’s finding more continuity in training,” he said. “Defrel has also spent a lot of time on the sidelines, but I’ve got great faith in all three of them.”
