Julien Laurens breaks down the latest PSG transfer rumours surrounding Marco Verratti and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Marco Verratti has denied giving an interview in which he was quoted as saying his future at Paris Saint-Germain depends on the club bringing in players in the transfer market this summer.

Verratti, 24, has been heavily linked with Barcelona, Man United and Juventus and his agent Donato Di Campli recently revealed that the midfielder’s future was unclear.

Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport published a report on Saturday with quotes from Verratti that said: “I want to see if they really do build a great squad this time. In that case, I would be happy to stay” and that “nobody is forcing me to leave.”

Verratti then initially posted a photo of the article covered in question marks on his Instagram account, prompting journalist Alessandro Grandesso to write a tweet standing by his report.

“17 years of professionalism. I confirm everything,” Grandesso wrote.

But later on Saturday evening, Verratti posted a more formal objection on Instagram, writing: “I did not give an interview with anyone and I have never discussed with PSG the situation presented in the article this morning.

“I hope you all stop talking without knowing anything. There is a limit to everything.”

Sport Mediaset reported that Verratti rejected a contract extension worth €12 million per season before meeting PSG sporting director Antero Henrique in Paris this week after flying home from Ibiza early.

L’Equipe also claimed that Verratti has sought legal advice from his lawyers to know what consequences he could face if he does not report for preseason training in July.

PSG’s non-international players will convene at the club’s Camp des Loges training facilities on July 4 but as he was involved in international action with Italy before going on holiday, Verratti is expected to return to Paris sometime just before Unai Emery’s men head to the United States for the International Champions Cup.
