Omar Gaber, left, will spend the 2018 season with Los Angeles FC.

New MLS club Los Angeles FC completed the loan signing of Egypt international Omar Gaber on Tuesday.

Gaber, 25, will be reunited with his former national team coach, Bob Bradley, who will coach LAFC when it debuts in 2018.

The defender/midfielder arrives on a one-year loan from Swiss club Basel. LAFC used targeted allocation money to complete the signing.

Gaber has played sparingly for Basel since joining the team last summer, making just 17 appearances after starring for Zamalek in his homeland.

Bradley, who coached Egypt from 2011-13, said in a statement: “I loved working with all the Egyptian players, and had a great opportunity to get to know Omar during that time.

“He’s always been admired by teammates and fans for his all-around contributions and willingness to give everything on the field. I am proud to welcome Omar Gaber to LAFC.”
