TOP STORY: Mourinho fumes over Rose
The Daily Mail is suggesting Jose Mourinho is not a happy man at Manchester United. In addition to the claim there is “growing concern” that Mourinho could leave in the summer as he is having “third season syndrome a year early,” the paper reports that the manager is furious that United won’t sanction a £40 million deal for Tottenham left-back Danny Rose.
Mourinho — who was coy on Rose in the summer after the defender’s controversial interview — has never appeared to trust Luke Shaw, but the Mail reckons the board want to keep faith with the former Southampton man.
The Sun offers a slightly more optimistic take on the situation, suggesting Mourinho is working on persuading the board that they should shell out £50m for Rose.

22.59 GMT: Could Liverpool lure one of Real Madrid’s brightest talents away from the Bernabeu? Reports out of Spain suggest that the could be the case with one Dani Ceballos.
Diario Gol claim that the 21-year-old is not happy with his role at Real Madrid and has asked to leave the club with his preferred destination Liverpool. Ceballos was named Player of the Tournament at the Under-21 European Championships this past summer and previously played at Real Betis.
Could Liverpool re-invest some money from a potential Philippe Coutinho sale into the highly-rated midfielder?
22.50 GMT: In what would be a move for the future, PSG have entered the race to sign Fulham starlet Ryan Sessegnon. The 17-year-old Sessegnon, has scored seven goals and dished out four assists for the Cottagers while playing as a left-back and is regarded as one of the top prospects currently in European football.
Sessegnon is being pursued by all the big clubs and England and has been for a year or so now, with Real Madrid and now PSG recently entering the fold for the youngster who is being valued at £30 million.
22.40 GMT: Having scored just 16 goals, the second-fewest in the Premier League, West Brom are continuing to pursue goalscoring options in the January window. One name that continues to pop up is Celtic and Scotland striker Leigh Griffiths.
The 27-year-old striker was linked with a move to the Hawthorns in the summer and is again being mentioned as an option for the Baggies. Crystal Palace are also reportedly pursuing Griffiths who has been out of the Brendan Rodgers’ starting XI of late.
22.20 GMT: After failing to sign Ross Barkley at the last minute of the summer transfer deadline, Chelsea are set to go back in an attempt to sign the England midfielder. Barkley has yet to feature this season at Everton and has a contract that expires at the end of the season. Chelsea and Tottenham were the two most heavily-linked sides to Barkley in the summer, with Barkley turning down a last-minute move to Chelsea.
21.47 GMT: Could AC Milan already be ready to move on from summer flop Andre Silva? Tuttosport claim that is a real possibility, as Milan are not convinced by the 22-year-old Portuguese, and could be ready to rid their hands of him. A 22-year-old striker with 11 goals in 18 international caps, the line is sure to start queing up for Silva despite his recent struggles.
21.23 GMT: After making an immediate impact in MLS with the Chicago Fire last season it looks as if Bastian Schweinsteiger will be staying stateside for at least another season.
Sources close to MLS report the Fire are close to re-signing the 33-year-old World Cup winner with Germany, to a one-year deal with an additional one-year club option. Schweinsteiger was named an MLS All-Star in his debut season in the United States, finishing the campaign with three goals and six assists. Will be closely keeping tabs on this one.
21.05 GMT: With rumours swirling around players like Thomas Lemar and Fabinho, Monaco manager Leonardo Jardim has said that no big-name players will be sold during January. Arsenal and Liverpool are two teams circling the 22-year-old Lemar but Jardim is adamant that he will not be sold during the winter window. Only time will tell…
20.45 GMT: As we discussed earlier Theo Walcott could finally leave Arsenal this month in pursuit of more playing time. Youth club Southampton and fellow Premier League side Everton have been linked but now reports out of Italy suggest the England man could be moving abroad.
Corriere dello Sport claim Walcott has offered himself up to AC Milan, looking to make a fresh start outside of England. Walcott has been with Arsenal since 2006 but has fallen out of favour with Arsene Wenger of late.
20.10 GMT: Frustrated by inconsistent goalkeeper play, Liverpool have joined the race to sign Roma goalkeeper Alisson. The Roma goalkeeper has had a breakout season taking over for Wojciech Szczesny and is according to Gazzetta dello Sport is being pursued by the Reds, as well European giants Barcelona and PSG.
With Roma still alive in the Champions League a move seems unlikely but could the chance to move to a bigger club entice the Brazilian?
19.46 GMT: DONE DEAL Schalke have confirmed the arrival of Marko Pjaca from Juventus, on loan until the end of the season, after the Croatian passed a medical on Thursday. Read the full story.
19.23 GMT: As Antonio Conte searches for backup for Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata, the Sun reports that the Blues have identified West Ham forward Andy Carroll as a potential target.
18.40 GMT: Cristiano Ronaldo has offers from three clubs, Mundo Deportivo cites Spanish television program El Chiringuito as reporting, and if the 32-year-old isn’t offered an improved contract that puts him on level terms with mega deals recently signed by Lionel Messi and Neymar, he could negotiate his exit from the Bernabeu at the end of the season.

17.44 GMT: Juventus are confident of signing Liverpool midfielder Emre Can on a free transfer this summer, the Guardian writes, having offered the 23-year-old a five-year deal worth £85,000 a week and a “sizeable” signing-on fee.
17.21 GMT: With Gabriel Jesus expected to face a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a knee injury, Manchester City are ready to — finally — make a move to sign Alexis Sanchez, the Mail reports. Pep Guardiola will open the bidding with a £25 million offer for the Chilean, who has six months left on his Arsenal contract, but would be willing to sanction a bid of up to £35 million.
16.58 GMT: An update on Henrikh Mkhitaryan‘s situation: As we discussed earlier in the day, Manchester United are not keen to allow the Armenian to join Inter on loan. Sky Sports is reporting that the player himself is also uninterested in a temporary switch to the San Siro.
16.35 GMT: Celta striker John Guidetti is reportedly having a medical at Alaves which could mean Bojan sent back to Stoke City — an outcome, according to the Stoke Sentinel, the player is keen on.

14.50 GMT: News from France now as PSG coach Unai Emery has called free agent & transfer target Lassana Diarra “a good player”, according to AFP, and added “I know him well. When he was with Real Madrid, he put in some great displays. He also performed well when he played for Marseille.”
Emery also spoke about his midfielder Javier Pastore, who has been linked with a move away: “I have spoken a lot with him. When he is fine (physically), he is an important player. When he is consistent, he plays and performs well. He has not told me that he wants to leave. I hope he will train with us & be ready to play.”

14.07 GMT: Valencia have confirmed the arrival of Argentinian forward Luciano Vietto from Atletico Madrid on a six-month loan, with a purchase option included in the deal. Vietto, who spent the 2016-17 campaign at Sevilla from Atletico, started in just seven games in all competitions for the Rojiblancos and was keen to leave in search of more playing time.

14.00 GMT: Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has indicated that he could add to is squad in the transfer window, saying “anything is possible.”
13.46 GMT: Paris Saint-Germain are considering Antonio Conte and Andre Villas-Boas as potential summer replacements for Unai Emery, with Jose Mourinho a distant third, a source close to the French capital outfit has told ESPN FC.
13.35 GMT: Burnley defender James Tarkowski, a major part of their superb season so far, has signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract at Turf Moor.

13.25 GMT: Wolves want to bring ATK striker Robbie Keane back to Molineux to help them secure promotion to the Premier League, according to Press Assocation Sport.
Press Association Sport also reported that Keane, 37, is keen on a return to the club this month.
13.15 GMT: Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has hailed back-up goalkeeper Sven Ulreich as “man of the year” and urged him to extend his contract.
But Ulreich’s contract expires in the summer and he has previously indicated that he would consider moving in order to play regular first-team football.
13.00 GMT: Japan international midfielder Yosuke Ideguchi is to undergo a medical with Championship side Leeds United after a fee for a move from Gamba Osaka was agreed, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports. The deal was first mooted in September.
12.40 GMT: Tosun, again — Besiktas president Fikret Orman said: “Our interests and the player’s interests are important. Cenk wants to join Everton. We want to do our part. We are working on a replacement. “The era of buy, buy, buy is over. This is the era of buy, add value and sell.” Orman said a final deal “has not been reached yet, but we have an agreement over the price” and added: “The end is near. The transfer will be wrapped up by the weekend.”
12.30 GMT: Championship leaders Wolves have announced that midfielder Prince Oniangue has joined Ligue 1 side Angers on loan until the end of the season.
12.15 GMT: In addition to confirming the imminent arrival of Cenk Tosun, Sam Allardyce has confirmed that there have been no bids for striker Sandro Ramirez and added: “If anybody was to leave, it would have to be the right fee for us.”
11.50 GMT: The future of Philippe Coutinho seems increasingly likely to be the biggest story of the January window, and Sport reports that Barcelona and Liverpool “are finalising the details” of a transfer for the playmaker.
It says Liverpool, who rejected three Barca bids for Coutinho in the summer, “have demanded that Barca pay a figure higher than the €140 million paid for Ousmane Dembele.”
In another report, the same publication says “the imminent arrival of Coutinho has caused a wave of enthusiasm in the club’s dressing room.”

11.20 GMT: Southampton are favourites to sign their former winger Theo Walcott if he leaves Arsenal, Sky Sports reports. Yesterday, sources told ESPN FC that both the Saints and Everton were considering a move for Walcott.
10.55 GMT: Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Javier Pastore‘s agent has told fcinter1908 there is “no news” about a potential move to Inter Milan.
10.35 GMT: Lyon forward Mariano Diaz has said he may return to Real Madrid one day but is focused only on continuing his record-breaking run with Lyon.
Mariano moved to the Ligue 1 side in an €8 million summer deal and has scored 13 goals in 19 Ligue 1 games, a better record than predecessors including Karim Benzema or Alexandre Lacazette.
10.25 GMT: Sky Sports reports that Everton have agreed a fee of £27 million for Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun. The report follows speculation that the deal could fall through after the Turkish club increased their asking price.
10.10 GMT: Hong Kong Premier League side Kitchee have announced the signing of former Manchester United and Uruguay striker Diego Forlan.
Forlan, who won the Golden Ball Award for the best player at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, arrives as Kitchee prepare for the group phase of the AFC Champions League next month.
09.55 GMT: Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang seems likely to be a player whose name will be mentioned a fair bit in the window, so here’s a first mention — Sky Italia says he is “top of the list” to replace Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal.
09.40 GMT: Schalke sporting executive Christian Heidel has responded angrily after Bayern Munich declared their interest in signing Germany international Leon Goretzka.
Goretzka, 22, is only under contract until June and has been linked with clubs including Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool, but Bayern are widely reported to be leading the race for his services.
But Heidel said: “Bayern insist Leon is a Schalke player, but still talk about a Schalke player more than they do any of their own.
09.30 GMT: More additions for Napoli? That seems unlikely — president Aurelio De Laurentiis has said their squad is big enough as it is.
09.20 GMT: AS reports that Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has already signed a contract with Real Madrid, but says its start date has yet to be determined. Kepa is due to become a free agent this summer.
09.07 GMT: Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has suggested it could be difficult for his club if Harry Kane follows an example set previously by Luka Modric and Gareth Bale and asks for a move to Real Madrid. Story here.
08.50 GMT: Kicker reports that Reece Oxford, now back at West Ham after his Borussia Monchengladbach loan was cut short, would love to return to Borussia-Park — and that the German club have not given up hope of a deal.
08.29 GMT: Schalke CEO Christian Heidel has confirmed the Bundesliga side are set to sign Juventus’ Marko Pjaca on a six-month loan. “He will undergo his medical in our training camp on Thursday,” Heidel said.
08.08 GMT: “El Chiringuito” claims Cristiano Ronaldo has received three offers to leave Real Madrid. The Portugal star has not been entirely silent on his desire to secure a pay rise at the Bernabeu.
07.54 GMT: Ruhr Nachrichten reports that Borussia Dortmund have stepped up their interest in Henrikh Mkhitaryan, but the Manchester United man would need to be willing to take a significant pay cut to return to the Westfalenstadion. The Daily Star, meanwhile, says Jose Mourinho will not consider loaning Mkhitaryan despite interest from the manager’s former club Inter Milan.

Umtiti mulling City offer
With Philippe Coutinho heavily linked with a move to Barcelona, the Blaugrana may experience the other end of a deal this month, as Manchester City look to lure Samuel Umtiti to the Etihad, according to L’Equipe.
The France international has met with Blues officials, the report states, with the 24-year-old reportedly asking for time to consider a potential switch. City boss Pep Guardiola watched on as Virgil van Dijk joined Liverpool for £75 million, but Umtiti, who has thrived at one of the world’s biggest clubs this season, is available at his buyout clause for just €60 million.
A hamstring injury before Christmas has kept out the former Lyon star recently, but Barca will be eager to initiate contract negotiations to increase his buyout clause and maintain his services during his prime years.
Evans availability to spark Manchester derby
West Brom could issue Jonny Evans with a contract ultimatum, reports the Mirror, with the Northern Ireland international wanted by both Manchester United and Manchester City.
The 30-year-old has 18 months to run on his contract and the Baggies will put a new deal worth £100,000 a week in front of him to sign.
Failure to do so will convince West Brom to sell, with the Red Devils eyeing their former player for £20 million, although the Baggies wanted £30 million last summer when crosstown rivals City came calling.
West Ham join Walcott race
West Ham have joined the race to sign Theo Walcott from Arsenal this month as his World Cup hopes fade, writes the Express. Newcastle, Everton and Southampton are also preparing offers for the Gunners star.
The 28-year-old has featured just five times in the Premier League this term, all as a substitute, and has 18 months left on a £120,000-a-week contact.
The quartet of clubs are plotting loan moves, which could suit all parties before deciding on the player’s long-term future in the summer.

– Robbie Keane could make a sensational return to Wolverhampton Wanderers to join their promotion push to the Premier League, according to the Mirror. The 37-year-old is currently playing for ATK in the Indian Super League but would jump at the opportunity to return to Molineux.
– Tottenham are ready to put a stop to one rumour by convincing Harry Kane to extend his contract again with the Mail revealing the club will break their wage structure to place their talisman on £200,000 a week. The 24-year-old would move beyond Raheem Sterling, on £180,000 a week, as the highest-paid Englishman.
