Ramires joined Jiangsu Suning from Chelsea in 2016.

Jiangsu Suning midfielder Ramires has told Sky Sport Italia that he would be keen on a move to Inter Milan during the January transfer window.

Ramires joined Jiangsu from Chelsea just under two years ago, but he now appears keen to return to Europe, with their Italian sister club Inter his ideal choice.

“It’s not all down to me, but I’d be very happy to return to Europe,” he said. “I hope an agreement can be reached with Inter — it would be a great moment for me and my family. I’ll be ready, if it does happen.”

Ramires suggested he would be willing to take a cut in wages to join the Nerazzurri, who have to be careful with how much they spend due to financial fair play (FFP) restrictions.

“As far as the wages are concerned, there are different parties involved and the negotiations need to satisfy both clubs,” he added. “I just hope an agreement can be reached and I can join Inter.

“I didn’t speak with [Inter coach Luciano] Spalletti when Inter came to China and I’ve never met him, but he’s a great coach and I knew about him before he joined Inter. I’m pleased that somebody who knows so much about football like him has his eye on me.

“I just need to keep on doing well here and hope that I can go back to Europe.”

Speaking from the Chinese club’s training camp in Marbella, Jiangsu coach Fabio Capello says he hopes Ramires will not join their sister club, although he believes he would make Inter better.

“Of course Ramires is a great player and he’s important for us,” he told Sky Sport. “We’d be happy if he would stay, but if he were to go to Inter, he would strengthen them. It’s not down to Inter or down to us, it’s down to financial fair play and many other parameters.”
