Bayern Munich playmaker James Rodriguez is recovering from a concussion which left him unaware of the half-time score in Saturday’s defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach.
The Colombia international, who was substituted at the interval following a collision with Gladbach defender Tony Jantschke, tweeted on Sunday that he was “feeling better.”
Gladbach led 2-0 at the time and held on for a 2-1 win after Arturo Vidal pulled one back — though James was not fully aware.
Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes revealed after the match that James “didn’t even know the score at half-time,” adding in quotes reported by the Bundesliga website: We have to wait for the diagnosis of the doctors.”
That diagnosis came on Sunday, with a club statement confirming: “James sustained concussion when he collided with Borussia’s Tony Jantschke. The Colombian will be under medical observation and unable to train for a few days.”
Rodriguez posted a picture on his Twitter feed with the caption: “Quiet Sunday. I feel good and better after the hit that I suffered yesterday.”

Jantschke also suffered a head injury in the collision and was replaced at the interval. The Gladbach full-back was on the field as an early substitute after teammate Christoph Kramer was taken to hospital with a concussion of his own.
James, meanwhile, will be joined on the Bayern sidelines by full-back Juan Bernat, with the club’s statement adding: “Bernat too will take a short break. The Spaniard sustained a minor muscular problem in his left thigh.”
