Udinese saw their five-match Serie A winning run end with a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Chievo.
The Flying Donkeys were quick out of the blocks at Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi, as a header from Mariusz Stepinski was clawed off the line by Udinese goalkeeper Albano Bizzarri following a corner.
Chievo went ahead on nine minutes when Serbian midfielder Ivan Radovanovic crashed a 20-yard effort in off the underside of the crossbar.
The home side had the ball in the net again as defender Fabrizio Cacciatore nodded a free-kick into the top corner. However, the goal was ruled out for a marginal offside call following a lengthy consolation with the video assistant referee.
Udinese levelled five minutes before half-time after Giuseppe Pezzella sent a low cross through the six-yard box from the left, which was deflected in by Chievo defender Nenad Tomovic.
During the closing stages, Udinese forward Kevin Lasagna saw a goal-bound shot blocked by Tomovic before Valter Birsa’s late free-kick was saved.
Udinese are now two points behind sixth-placed Sampdoria, while Chievo are 13th.
