Premier League giants ready to save Shaw
Luke Shaw’s future at Manchester United appears doomed after numerous injuries and Jose Mourinho unwilling to offer many opportunities on the pitch, but the Telegraph believes that Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea could offer the 22-year-old a lifeline.
The former Southampton starlet has made just 32 Premier League appearances in three-and-a-half years since moving to Old Trafford in a £28 million move.
United have taken up the option to extend Shaw’s contract until 2019, looking to minimise their loss on the player, and the Red Devils’ title rivals, as well as Everton, are monitoring the situation.
Arsenal keen on City starlet
England Under-17 starlet Bobby Duncan is being tracked by Arsenal after the Manchester City prospect’s winner midweek against Portugal, reports the Mirror.
The 16-year-old, who is the cousin of Steven Gerrard, was immediately called up to train with the Under-20s after his rapid rise through the ranks.
The Blues will be concerned with interest for their super talent after Jadon Sancho bolted in search of first team action, ending up at Borussia Dortmund this summer.
Pep Guardiola may have to start feeding the likes of Phil Foden into the first team quicker than initially planned to prevent more talented players eyeing up moves away.
Spurs eye Hammers star
Tottenham are keen on West Ham star Manuel Lanzini, according to the Mirror, with Mauricio Pochettino a big admirer of his fellow Argentinian.
Spurs would be able to offer a larger pay packet than the 24-year-old’s current £35,000-per-week wages.
Relations between the clubs remain bitter, though Spurs are keen to acquire the playmaker, who initially caught their eye after scoring at White Hart Lane two years ago.
Everton made enquiries last summer before switching attention to Gylfi Sigurdsson, while David Moyes will be desperate to keep the former River Plate starlet to beat the drop after taking over from Slaven Bilic.
– Jose Mourinho has given the green light for Man United to trigger one-year extensions for Juan Mata, Daley Blind, Ashley Young and Ander Herrera, reports the Telegraph.
Mata had been linked with Real Madrid, while Atletico Madrid have shown interest in Herrera, but United have moved to avoid losing any players on a free transfer.
– Corriere dello Sport have a trio of transfer stories on Saturday’s front page, with Napoli pushing for Sime Vrsaljko after impressing for Atletico Madrid, yet still not commanding an automatic starting spot since joining from Sassuolo.
Roma are looking to sign Barcelona right-back Aleix Vidal with Nelson Semedo blocking any future at the Camp Nou.
And finally, a potential transfer revelation comes with the news that AC Milan have joined the chase for the front runner to be next summer’s most wanted man: Schalke star Leon Goretzka.
The Rossoneri will have to beat out Arsenal, Tottenham, Barcelona and Bayern for the German midfielder.
