AS Monaco, French Ligue 1, Leagues, Nice, Story

Monaco coach Leonardo Jardim has told his side to beware Nice’s quality on the counter-attack in Tuesday night’s Ligue 1 clash.
The principality club go into the derby second in the table, albeit 11 points behind runaway leaders Paris St Germain, while Nice have overcome a slow start to the season to reach sixth place.
Jardim said in a press conference, excerpts of which were broadcast on the club’s official Twitter feed: “Always in a derby we have to stay calm and play with commitment because little things can make the difference.
“We cannot allow them to play on the counter because we know very well that they are strong in that area.
“We have to also try to play on the front foot and control the match.”
Radamel Falcao has returned to full training with the squad and will be closely monitored in the lead-up to the match, while defender Jemerson is a doubt with a thigh problem.
Monaco were held to a goalless draw by Montpellier last time out but won their previous four league games and six in all competitions, while Nice too have taken 13 points from their last five league fixtures.
Nice coach Lucien Favre warned his team to be ready for anything.
In quotes reported on the club’s Twitter feed, he said: “Monaco have lots of options. They can defend, counter-attack or simply play their game. We have to be ready for anything.
“For us, it’s a good run of results. We have come back from a long way back and we have to continue like that. There are still lots of things to improve.”
Nice will be without Nampalys Mendy, Arnaud Souquet, Arnaud Lusamba and long-term absentee Mickael Le Bihan.
Winger Allan Saint-Maximin faces his former club, where he failed to establish himself in a two-year spell, but he said: “Regardless of which team we are facing, the most important thing is to win the game.”
